For the second time in less than a week, a stretch of U.S. 92 was closed in Volusia County because of a nearby brush fire.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -

A 9-mile stretch of U.S. 92 in Volusia County reopened Monday morning.

U.S. 92 was closed between Indian Lake and Kepler roads near Interstate 4, which was used as an alternate route, because of a brush fire burning nearby.

The same stretch of roadway was closed last week because of the fire, which threatened homes and destroyed a shed.

Volusia fire officials said the blaze, which started around 2:40 p.m. Thursday, was 75 percent contained as of Friday morning.  It has scorched an estimated 225 acres.

No injuries have been reported.
