A brush fire that grew rapidly in Volusia County is now 50 percent contained, and resulted in the closure of US-92 near Interstate 4.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -

U.S. 92 near Interstate 4, which was closed because of a brush fire, has reopened.

Forestry officials say the fire grew to 350 acres and engulfed a structure, possibly a shed. Three other homes were threatened, but no evacuations were issued, according to officials.

Volusia fire officials said the fire, which started around 2:40 p.m. Thursday, was 75 percent contained as of Friday morning.

Officials said a wind shift caused the fire to erupt, shutting down U.S. 92 in both directions from Big John Drive to Indian Lake Road, a 9-mile stretch.  The roadway reopened around 10 a.m. Friday.

The fire is expected to continue burning into the weekend.

No injuries have been reported.
