Verizon to bring 750 jobs to Lake Mary

Gov. Rick Scott with the Verizon crew announced that 750 jobs will be brought to the Lake Mary area with the new Verizon building being built.
The building, which was announced at the International Parkway Building Wednesday morning, will be built in Heathrow, but no construction dates have been released. Permits have been pulled, according to Lake Mary officials.
"We want more people to move to our state, we want more tourists to come, more exports, but today is a great day, 750 jobs in Florida," said Scott.
The 200,000 square-foot building will house finance services, which will take care of things like payroll and accounting.
Officials said the Lake Mary area was chosen as the location out of 3,000 potential cities by weighing the quality of life, talent pool and cost of living.
Workers who relocate to Lake Mary for the positions will get in-state tuition for University of Central Florida, Valencia College and Seminole State College, according to Scott.
The building should be up by 2014, but people are already beginning to make the transfer. No word on how soon the positions will be open to the public, nor the starting salary.
