A Volusia County pizzeria owner is protesting battery charges after he was caught on surveillance video fighting with an employee over a paycheck.
Vincenzo Scorpio says that the surveillance video of the fight between him and another employee that occurred outside his restaurant, Scorpio's Pizza, on Tuesday night proves that he was defending himself.
"He keeps pushing me and pushing me and swinging at me and finally hits me in the face," Scorpio said. "I finally said, 'I'm under attack and I need to defend myself if I want to go home to my wife and children.'"
Scorpio said the worker jumped out of the car, shown in the video, and attacks him. The video shows Scorpio standing outside of the worker's car, on top of the worker beating him.
Scorpio said the dispute was about a paycheck. Scorpio told Local 6 he plans on bringing the video to the state attorney's office to get the charges dropped.
