OVIEDO, Fla. -

A Seminole County deputy is recovering after he fell out of a car being driven by a man wanted for shoplifting, authorities said.

The deputy stopped Robert Pinos on Wednesday night outside the Publix grocery store off Clayton Crossing Way in Oviedo, according to officials.

Deputies said Pinos had shoplifted two lipsticks and a pair of sunglasses from the Publix on Aloma Avenue, but dropped his wallet.

The deputy went to arrest Pinos in his neighborhood, but Pinos struggled, and the pair ended inside Pinos' car, video released by the Seminole County Sheriff's Office shows.

Pinos shoved the deputy to the ground and drove off, officials said.

Pinos was eventually found at a home off Steed Terrace and taken into custody. Deputies said Pinos had tried to hide in the attic, but fell through the floor into the garage.

The deputy was taken to the hospital with a head injury, but is OK. He was treated and put back on light duty on Thursday.
