VIERA, Fla. -

A Viera High School student was suspended on Wednesday after deputies say he brought an Airsoft-style gun to school.

Brevard County deputies said the student didn't attend classes throughout the day but attended drama practice afterschool with the pellet gun in his backpack.

Officials saw the students playing with the pellet gun and confiscated it.

The student was suspended and the school isn't pursuing criminal charges.

The student told deputies he accidentally brought the gun in his bag. The student hasn't been identified.
