A man who deputies say stole trailers from Orange City, DeLand and Deltona and sold them to Orlando residents and businesses has been arrested.

Deputies said Michael Desaussure, 53, had previously been arrested in similar trailer theft cases but bonded out of jail. He was wanted again for dealing in stolen property after an investigation found he targets unattended trailers during the day and takes them to Orlando to sell them hours later.

Desaussure first stole a 1996 flatbed 16-foot utility trailer from a residence near Orange City on Jan. 3 and was arrested later that day for dealing in stolen property on an unrelated trailer case. By the time the investigation led them to the other trailer thefts, Desaussure had bonded out of jail and vanished.

Desaussure was served with the second warrant in Seminole County. He has bonded out of jail, deputies said.

Anyone with information about trailers bought from him is asked to call Sgt. Virgil Ford at (386) 668-3830 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida, toll-free, at (888) 277-TIPS.
