EDGEWATER, Fla. -

A Volusia County middle school student will be charged with filing a false report of an explosive device after a bomb threat was made on a school bus, according to officials.

The incident occurred Monday morning at 3100 Sabal Palm Drive in Edgewater as the bus was picking up students attending Indian River Middle School.

The bus was evacuated and no one was injured, said deputies, who added that 21 nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution.

Edgewater police said student charged told the bus driver he was lying, but the driver called the police anyways.
