DeLAND, Fla. -

A DeLand resident helped police catch three men who he says robbed his home on Monday - but not before handing over his 1-year-old daughter to a neighbor while he pursued the suspects, according to Volusia County deputies.

Deputies arrested three men for armed home invasion and grand theft and are searching for a fourth after the 37-year-old said they broke into his home on 9th Avenue around 3 p.m. and forced him to give them more than $5,000.

The victim ran across the street and dropped his daughter off with a neighbor, saying, "Here, take my baby, take my baby. I was just held up at gunpoint," according to deputies. He then took off in his truck after the suspects while his neighbor called 911.

Police met up with the victim and were able to catch Jose Santana, 25, and James Tailor, 19, after a brief chase on-foot. Both suspects were also charged with possession of marijuana after police found a backpack with the drug where they were captured.

Police also found a bullet wound near Santana's groin area while he was being strip-searched. He couldn't explain how he got the wound, and he was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach for treatment.

A third suspect, Jason Allen, 31, was captured by a K-9 unit and taken to a local hospital for a minor bite to his right leg. Allen was charged with possession of a controlled substance when officers found pills. Allen was also found in violation of his probation warrant, deputies said.

Investigators are still searching for a fourth culprit in the robbery.
