WINTER PARK, Fla. -

Winter Park could see a new baseball stadium sprout up near the intersection of US 17-92 and Lee Road as soon as next spring, according to the owner of the property.

Developer Dan Bellows confirmed that he is in negotiations with Rollins College and an unnamed minor league baseball team that is interested in moving to Winter Park to put together a deal.

The plan is to build the stadium in Ravaudage, a development Bellows owns. The stadium would cost between $12 million to $15 million, said Bellows, and would be owned by Rollins.

So far, most residents welcome the idea of bringing baseball to the city.

"If it's gonna make the area nicer, bring it on. I like baseball," Larry Floyd, a Winter Park resident who lives near the proposed site.
