A woman was arrested on prescription pill-related charges after her odd behavior in the parking lot of the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office alerted deputies and led to a search.

Stephanie Randall, 30, from Daytona Beach, was at the Operation’s Center near Daytona Beach with a friend who had business there. Randall’s friend went inside the building with Randall’s 2-year-old son on Wednesday morning while Randall stayed in the car’s passenger seat.

Deputies said they were suspicious when they noticed Randall swinging her head in circles as if listening to heavy metal music, but there was no music playing. Randall also lifted up her shirt, picked at her skin and wiped her face as if she was trying to peel it off, deputies said.

Deputies said they also noticed that Randall’s friend in the lobby seemed to be falling asleep while completing paperwork. Deputies said they were concerned for the child’s well being in the presence of the two adults, so they approached Randall.

Deputies found that Randall’s chest was partially exposed and that a plastic bag was tucked into her bra. Randall claimed that she didn’t have a bag in her shirt before removing the bag and attempting to hide it in her seat, deputies said. When she did this, deputies saw pills in the bag, to which Randall said she had a prescription.

Randall couldn’t, however, tell the deputies what pills she had or show prescription paperwork for them, authorities said. The pills were methadone, deputies said, and Randall was arrested.

Authorities conducted a further search and found two Adderall pills that Randall said she was holding for a friend and a pill grinder, deputies said.

Randall was charged with two counts of possession of a schedule II narcotic without prescription and possession of narcotics paraphernalia.
