Altamonte Springs police continue to search for a man who stole a woman's purse inside a Publix grocery store.

One Altamonte Springs woman says she took her eyes off her purse for just seconds, when a man grabbed it and ran out of a Seminole County Publix.

It happened at the Publix one Altamonte Drive when the woman was looking for new makeup to buy, that's when 2 Publix employees ran after the crook, but were unable to catch up the him.

Police are calling the man seen in video walking in with shorts, white T-shirt, and sunglasses, a brazen crook.

Officers say just days ago, the man snatched a woman's purse while she shopped for groceries. He comes in casually, but leaving was anything but.

"I was shopping for makeup and I was looking at the bottom shelf," the victim, Susan Hubbell, told Local 6.

Hubbell, who is now out of town, told Local 6 over the phone that she was just in the makeup aisle, not thinking much.

"I was running out of the door and there was the manager of Publix running after him," she said.

In the video, you can see the manager running behind the culprit. Police say the man then ran over a wall and into the Village Green Apartments next door.

Liliana Breton is not only holding her kids a little tighter but her purse too.

"I'm concerned as a mother, as wife, as a woman. It bothers me that we can't even do grocery shopping anymore without even feeling attacked," said Breton.

Shopper, Tasha Wise, said, "I've lived in Seminole County my whole life and I've never had a problem so that really scares me."

It's scary because you never think it could happen to you, becoming a victim as you shop for makeup.

The victim says she had everything in that purse, her credit cards, keys, and cell phone. She says he didn't even use her phone, so she thinks he was out for her cash.

If you recognize the man, call Altamonte Springs Police or CrimeLine at 1-800-423-TIPS. You can remain anonymous.
