Amtrak passenger accused of sex act on train
An Amtrak passenger was arrested Tuesday in Volusia County on suspicion of performing a sex act in plain view on the train.
Daniel Michael, of Marathon, was arrested in DeLand on charges of lewd and lascivious exhibition in the presence of a victim under the age of 16.
According to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, a passenger said Michael was performing a lewd act while sitting next to him. The witness said Michael then got up and walked down the aisle of the train while exposed, according to deputies.
An Amtrak agent called the Sheriff's Office and deputies went to the train station just west of DeLand to interview Michael, who said he was only scratching his stomach while sitting next to the other passenger.
Michael later admitted, however, that he went to the bathroom and may have continued performing the lewd act.
Michael was arrested and taken to the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach.
