Troy Bridges' rainy weather forecast.  Tuesday, April 30, 2013.

Most of Central Florida has seen a wetter than normal spring.

April is typically the driest month of the year in the Orlando area, but this year it will likely rank among the top 10 wettest Aprils for Melbourne.

As of midnight Monday, Melbourne reported 5.7 inches of rain this month, 3.63 inches more than average.

Orlando comes in about a half-inch above normal, reporting 2.61 inches.

Daytona Beach set a record Monday by picking up 1.3 inches of rain, putting its monthly total higher than average.

The above average totals are due to higher moisture levels this spring over the Atlantic and Caribbean.  As fronts have tracked into Central Florida, southerly winds ahead of those systems have tapped into that moisture, creating wetter than normal conditions.

The chance of rain Tuesday remains at 60 percent.  The region transitions into the wet season at the end of May when daily thunderstorms become more common.
