Brevard County deputies are searching for the man they say savagely attacked his ex-girlfriend and her young child with a blunt object.

MELBOURNE, Fla. -

Brevard County deputies are searching for the man they say savagely attacked his ex-girlfriend and her 9-year-old son with a blunt object, sending them both to the hospital with serious injuries.

The attack happened about 3 a.m. Sunday in the Aurora Pines mobile home park off Aurora Road in Melbourne. Neighbors said Kevin Fitser, 37, came to the house and confronted his ex-girlfriend with a bat. At some point during the fight, someone called deputies.

When they got to the home, deputies said they found the woman and her son with severe injuries from strikes with the bat. Both were rushed to Holmes Regional Medical Center, where the child was treated and released. The mother is still hospitalized with a serious skull fracture, according to Brevard County deputies.

Deputies say Fitser lives two doors down from the victims in the same mobile home park.

Fister used to live in Broward County and court records show he's been charged with several felonies, including grand theft auto, possession of cocaine and arson.  In Brevard County, records show he's only faced minor charges, such as traffic violations and criminal mischief.

Brevard County sheriff's deputies said Fitser should be considered armed and dangerous.  He may be driving a black 1999 Plymouth Breeze with the Florida tag APH-E74.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
