A 6-acre brush fire is burning near homes in Avalon Park.

AVALON PARK, Fla. -

A brush fire ignited in east Orange County has been contained on Friday evening after burning dangerously close to homes and causing road closures.

Authorities said the fire, which was burning at 6 acres, ignited near Seneca Falls Drive and was reported just after 1 p.m.

Avalon Park Boulevard at Waterford Chase Parkway was shut down as fire officials worked to contain the fire.

The Avalon Reserve Apartments on the eastern side of the fire and the homes on the south side of the fire on Seneca Falls Drive were at risk, according to Fire Rescue officials.

No homes were damaged and no one was injured as a result of this fire.

Local 6 new helicopter flew over the scene as the flames burned only feet away from homes.

Fire officials said residents in the area can expect to see smoke and flame as the fire burns itself out.
