ORLANDO, Fla. -

An Orlando family won't be allowed back into their home after a car slammed into the front of it Thursday morning.

The crash occurred on Fern Creek avenue near Gatlin Avenue just before 2:30 a.m. Thursday. Florida Highway Patrol said the 18-year-old driver, Kevin Villegas, lost control of the Ford SUV, drove into the yard and crashed into the house.

Villegas was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. He was ticketed for careless driving, FHP said.

One of the homeowners said the impact was so hard, it knocked his son's bed back a few feet.

"When we finally got him calmed down enough to let us know he told us somebody just smashed into my room," said homeowner Mark Bruno.

Bruno said the insurance adjustor will come out on Thursday to inspect the home. The American Red Cross will likely help out the family with a place to stay.
