ORLANDO, Fla. -

A 28-year-old man was arrested in Orlando on suspicion of leaving a 3-year-old girl, who was found wandering a parking lot, home alone.

Nathan Peterson, the girl's father, was arrested on child neglect charges.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, a neighbor saw the girl walking toward the parking lot of the Coconut Palms apartments on Middlebrook Pointe Drive near South Kirkman Drive and Conroy Road around 11 p.m. Wednesday and called police.  The neighbor asked the girl to wait in an apartment while she looked for her father, deputies said.

Peterson, however, was not home and showed up about an hour later, deputies said.  He told officials that his brother was watching the girl, but his brother was at work, deputies said.

Several beer bottles were found inside the apartment, deputies said.

Petersen was arrested and taken to the Orange County Jail.
