Police, residents and family members gathered in Longwood to honor a little girl killed in her driveway back in May.

Longwood police officers, residents and family members of Naiara Caraballa Morales gathered Saturday to honor the toddler killed in a tragic accident in May.

Everyone gathered at noon Saturday at the entrance of Longwood Plantation Subdivision on Freeman Street and Palmetto Avenue.

A tree was planted and a plaque presented to honor Morales after she was accidentally killed after being run over by her cousin.

Morales was the daughter of a Longwood military hero who was killed in Afghanistan prior to his daughter's death. He was memorialized at the Longwood Heroes Monument last year in front of the Longwood Police Department for the ultimate sacrifice he gave during his military service for his country.

Police said his name is permanently inscribed on the U.S. Army pedestal at our Heroes Monument.
