LAKE COUNTY, Fla. -

Florida Highway Patrol troopers are investigating an accident that killed a child Saturday night.

Troopers said 40-year-old Kimberly Kinggard was driving a pick-up truck on County Road 42 heading west when she drifted off the road.

Troopers said Kinggard tried to over correct but lost control of the car and went into the eastbound lanes, in front of 65-year-old Jesus Vela.

Troopers said Kinggard was t-boned by Vela where a child was sitting in the passenger side of the truck.

Troopers said the little girl was taken to the hospital where she later died.

Charges are pending as the investigation continues and troopers said they were not releasing the age or identity of the child.
