Children found wandering at Kissimmee motel; Dad found passed out, deputies say
A man was arrested Sunday after he was found passed out and his children -- ages 2 and 6 -- were discovered wandering around a Kissimmee motel, according to deputies.
Joseph Hannon, 27, of Kissimmee, was arrested on charges of child neglect, possession of cannabis under 20 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.
According to the Osceola County Sheriff's Office, a witness called deputies to the Amber Inn Motel at 4624 W. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway in Kissimmee after finding the children walking around unattended.
Deputies located the father, later identified as Hannon, in his motel room; he was breathing but unresponsive, the Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies said they were unable to wake him up and found what appeared to be marijuana and prescription drugs next to the bed.
Deputies located the mother, who was working, and she picked the children up, deputies said. She told deputies that she does not live with Hannon, who was supposed to be watching the children while she was working.
Hannon was arrested and taken to the Osceola County Jail.
