CLERMONT, Fla. -

Demolition crews have been cleared to begin work at the Summer Bay Resort where a sinkhole opened up last month.

The machines have been on the property on Wednesday, beginning the process of dismantling the buildings that have been condemned by the county. A total of three structures fell into the sinkhole last month.

None of the 36 people in the buildings were injured, but many lost their belongings, items that may end up among the rubble of the demolished buildings.

Guests are not allowed to return to the buildings closest to the work zone, county officials said.

The clean-up process is expected to take a few weeks.
