APOPKA, Fla. -

Orange County deputies said they arrested a man after he led them on a pursuit through Apopka Sunday afternoon.

Deputies said around 3:15 p.m. Sunday, a deputy saw the man sleeping in his black SUV at the gas pumps at the 7-11 at Maitland Boulevard and Rose Avenue.

As the deputy tried to wake up the driver, he hit the gas as the deputy started to lean in, officials said.

Deputies said the car and driver were spotted around 40 minutes later.

Deputies said the driver led them on a chase for about eight minutes and finally stopped in Apopka at Orange Street and Central Avenue.

Deputies said the driver will be charged with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle on a law enforcement officer.
