LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -

Millions come to Central Florida every year, saving for months to get the most out of every theme park.

As locals we may not think of them as a low cost overnight or day trip options, but there are plenty of activities on Disney property we can take advantage of.

One of the best, and often overlooked, places to find affordable activities is Ft. Wilderness Resort.

Visitors can rent bikes, canoes and kayaks for less than $20. Dockside fishing is also available. Casting rod fishing gear can be rented for as little as $6. Bait can be purchased as well.

Overnight guests of the resort have many more options to choose from. You can stay on property for as little as $54 a night for a single vehicle camping spot.

Guests can take horse stable tours, archery lessons, horseback excursions and wagon rides among other outdoor activities.

All guests have access to the themed pool area with slide.

The campground and all it's amenities are a big hit with Jennifer Miyar and her family. She's been going to the theme park every summer since she was a child. Now, she brings her own kids. The Ocoee resident said she can't beat the price and all she gets for her money.

"It's amazing for a big family because you can put up to ten people on a site," she said while preparing lunch for all 17 family members in her group. "That's one price and you put up your tents. It's local, it's easy, it's fun."

Miyar said they often spend days at the resort without even entering the parks.

"It's a lot of fun, the kids they rent bikes, they go canoeing, they play at the pool," she said. "Sometimes we go to the parks but not always."
