Orange County deputies on Thursday said they are not searching for a man impersonating a law officer, hours after a lieutenant told Local 6 that a woman had been pulled over by a fake cop.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office said the incident involved an Orlando police officer, who conducted a legitimate stop.

Earlier, however, the lieutenant had said that a man pulled a woman over late Wednesday near State Road 417 and Narcoossee Road.  According to the lieutenant, the woman told deputies that a driver in a gray Ford F-150 with dark tinted windows then approached her car.

The fake cop didn't ask for the woman's name or insurance information, but he yelled at her and threatened to give her a citation before walking away, according to the lieutenant.

OPD later told Local 6 that the woman who was pulled over reported to OCSO that she was being stopped by an unmarked vehicle, referring to it as a "fake cop." According to OPD, the officer who pulled the driver over saw the fake cop report  said that she made the traffic stop and instead of issuing the driver a ticket, she gave her a warning.
