1 killed in crash on Turnpike in Osceola County

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. -

At least one person was killed Monday in a crash on Florida's Turnpike in Osceola County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash occurred on the southbound Turnpike near Boggy Creek just before 2 p.m. when Dennis Hackman, 55, of Winter Park, lost control of his 2002 Lexus SUV, traveled over the center guard rail, overturning the vehicle, ending up on its roof.

Hackman was pronounced dead at the scene, FHP said.

All southbound lanes of the Turnpike were shut down as the investigation continued.

Officials said Hackman was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
