The FBI is encouraging parents to download an app designed to help report a missing child.
Since its launch, more than 140,000 people have downloaded the FBI's Child ID App to their smartphones and tablets.
FBI Special Agent Timothy Gallagher has been working on missing child cases for more than 20 years and says the first few hours when a child disappears are critical.
"I remember working these cases 15 years ago and you had to go to a parent who had lost a child and were fishing around for pictures and trying to remember their height and weight and descriptors," Gallagher said.
The FBI's Child APP allows parents to send photos of their child, along with details such as height and weight to thousands of law enforcement officers with just one click of the button.
The app is free. According to the FBI, it does not collect or store any information.
