Winn-Dixie has announced an immediate recall of the Taylor Farms Spinach Antipasta Salad sold in all Winn-Dixie stores, according to an official release from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

According to the FDA, the reason for the recall is the potential that the product may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. This item is sold in the full-service case in the deli department; the item is being recalled from deli cases in all stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi.

Listeriosis can cause fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions, sometimes preceded by diarrhea or other gastrointestinal symptoms. An invasive infection spreads beyond the gastrointestinal tract

The recalled salad was sold at stores between Oct. 19 and Oct. 27., and there has been no reports of any issues or sickness associated with its consumption.

"Our store directors have removed this product from the deli, and ask that anyone who has purchased this item discard it immediately to ensure our customers will not be exposed to the potentially harmful product," said Brian Wright, the Winn-Dixie's communications and community vice president. "We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and invite customers to visit their neighborhood store to receive a full refund."

To receive the refund, customers may present proof of purchase through a receipt or the product-packaging label.
