Troopers say charges are pending against a driver that took off after a hit-and-run crash in Windermere and then crashed head-on into another vehicle, killing a 63-year-old woman at the scene.

WINDERMERE, Fla. -

Troopers say charges are pending against a driver that took off after a hit-and-run crash in Windermere and then crashed head-on into another vehicle, killing a 63-year-old woman at the scene.

The hit-and-run crash happened Friday at County Road 535 and Summerport Village Parkway in Windermere.

Three vehicles were stopped for a red light at the intersection when troopers say the driver of a 2006 Honda pickup truck, identified as 25-year-old Nathan Hartman, approached stopped traffic and failed to stop.

The front of Hartman's truck struck the rear of one of the cars, causing a chain reaction between the four cars.

Hartman then fled the scene and then crashed head-on into a 2005 Hyundai at Ficquette Road and Overstreet Road in Windermere, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said Jennifer Wolfe, 42, attempted to avoid the crash and struck both the Hyundai and Hartman's truck, which caused his truck to overturn.

The 63-year-old woman driving the Hyundai died at the scene, according to FHP.

Hartman was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. FHP is seeing if there was some kind of impairment issue with Hartman.

Hartman was placed under arrest after 11 p.m. Friday at ORMC by an FHP traffic homicide investigator, authorities said.

The road was blocked as the investigation continued.
