COCOA, Fla. -

A Florida Highway Patrol trooper has jailed a fugitive sought by “America’s Most Wanted”  in Cocoa.

Local 6 partner Florida Today reports trooper William Craig stopped a 1995 Pontiac car after the Pontiac did not move into another lane as it passed a Brevard County sheriff’s patrol car on the side of the road.

Craig pulled over the Pontiac about 10:40 a.m. on Wednesday on the State Road 528 exit to Industry Road.

Suspecting the driver had given him a false name, Craig pulled out a Rapid ID portable fingerprint scanner. The fingerprints identified the driver as Brett David Bowyer, 34, a police spokeswoman said.

FHP officials said Bowyer is wanted in West Virginia. Craig arrested the man on charges of resisting without violence, attaching a tag not assigned to the vehicle and the warrant.

According to the America’s Most Wanted website, Bowyer was a high school counselor who was arrested in 2010 on child pornography and trafficking charges. He pleaded guilty but didn’t show up for sentencing, the website reported.

Bowyer last appeared on the show in September 2012.
