Florida soft shell turtle rescued by runner

Katie Tracey rescued a turtle walking in the middle of the street near the Dubsdread Golf Course on Wednesday.

ORLANDO, Fla. -

A turtle was rescued in the street Wednesday near the Dubsdread Golf Course on Par Street.

Local 6 anchor Gaard Swanson was there as the Florida soft shell turtle was walking in the middle of the street, blocking traffic.

Katie Tracey was running when she encountered the turtle. She tells Local 6 she stopped traffic to pick up the turtle and put him into a wooded area.

The Florida soft shell turtle are some of the fastest turtles that reside on land.
