George Clooney film prompts road closures in New Smyrna Beach

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. -

Filming for George Clooney's new movie is in Central Florida this week, but publicists say Clooney won't be on set.

Clooney's new Disney Pictures film, "Tomorrowland," will be filming in the New Smyrna Beach area for three days next week.

According to New Smyrna Beach police, road closures are scheduled for:

  • Tuesday, Nov. 12: From 4 p.m.-2 a.m., temporary intersection closures for two-four minutes at a time along the US. 1 corridor from 10th Street north to the three bridges area.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 13: From 9:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-3 p.m., U.S. 1 will be closed for 15-minute intervals between Arts Center Avenue and the three bridges area. From 1-3 p.m., additional temporary intersection closures for 2-4 minutes at a time will occur along U.S. 1 from the three bridges area south to Wayne Avenue.
    From 6-10 p.m., Canal St. will be closed from U.S. 1 east to Riverside Drive.
  • Thursday, Nov. 14: From 6 p.m.-6 a.m., U.S. 1 will be closed from Louise Avenue south to Wayne Avenue.

Drivers should expect delays in the areas of road closures, police said.

The movie has also been filmed in a secluded Altamonte Springs neighborhood.
