George Zimmerman's wife says he's 'selfish,' making 'reckless decisions'

Shellie Zimmerman speaks out as she files for divorce, calling George Zimmerman "verbally abusive" and a "changed man."

SANFORD, Fla. -

George Zimmerman's wife, Shellie, says she stood by her man "through everything" but once he was acquitted of murder charges in the 2012 shooting of teenager Trayvon Martin, he left her with "a bunch of pieces of broken glass."

Shellie Zimmerman, who filed for divorce on Thursday, told ABC's "Good Morning America" in an interview Friday that her husband is selfish.

She says the couple tried counseling, but added that in the end "George is all about George." She also said he has been verbally abusive and is making what she considers "reckless decisions."

She says her husband only spent three or four nights at their house since the trial ended in July and that she moved out Aug. 13.

George Zimmerman's attorney did not comment on the accusations.

Meanwhile, Zimmerman's wife is asking that he pay for a permanent life insurance policy with her named as the beneficiary.  Shellie Zimmerman asked in the petition released Friday that a judge order her husband to pay the premiums on the policy.

She also is seeking an equal distribution of their checking accounts, trusts, partnerships and any unknown assets.

She asked that a judge prevent him from selling off any property.
