Girl dies after being pulled from community pool in Florida
An 8-year-old has died days after being pulled motionless from a Jacksonville subdivision's community swimming pool on Labor Day.
The Florida Times-Union reports Linda Pham died at 3:15 p.m. Thursday in the hospital where she had been since Monday, when she nearly drowned on Monday.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office say Pham arrived at the pool around 2:40 p.m. with her sister, a 38-year-old neighbor and her children. A witness told authorities he heard the girl say she couldn't swim, but later saw her jumping off the steps at the pool's shallow end with other children.
When another child said the girl had thrown up under water and wasn't moving, the neighbor pulled her out and began CPR.
The Florida Department of Children and Families is investigating.
