ORANGE CITY, Fla. -

Deputies are investigating after a 13-year-old girl claims she was raped inside a home while walking home from school.

Deputies responded after 7 p.m. Thursday in Orange City in reference to a sexual battery on a child.

The girl's 34-year-old mother said earlier in the day her daughter approached her and said she had been raped three weeks ago.

The girl said sometime between the end of March and the beginning of April while walking home from school she was forcefully grabbed by a man and taken inside his home, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said.

The girl said the man "finished, walked her outside and she ran home," according to the incident report.

A description of the man was not given.
