Orlando police have caught a gunman who they say tied up the employees and robbed a Jimmy John's on Tuesday morning.
Police said the robbery was reported around 10:30 a.m. at the Jimmy John's in the 3100 block of East Colonial Drive.
The gunman, identified by police as Kelsey Donnell Fisher, 42, went into the store and tied up the employees at gunpoint before committing the robbery and fleeing, according to police.
One of the workers was able to break free and call 911, according to police.
Just after the robbery occurred, an OPD K-9 officer spotted a suspicious person and detained him, police said. As the suspect description was reported, officers confirmed that the suspicious person was the robbery suspect and recovered the gun, which turned out to be a toy, used in the robbery.
"The exact description matching that suspect is what the officer heard over the radio, realizing that he had also stopped the suspect that had committed this armed robbery," said Sgt. Jim Young of OPD.
Fisher faces charges of armed robbery with a weapon, armed kidnapping with a weapon and resisting an officer without violence. He has been placed on a no-bond status.
An investigation is ongoing.
