Two Holly Hill schools were evacuated Tuesday morning over a bomb threat.
Holly Hill Elementary and Holly Hill Middle schools, located within a half-mile of each near Center Street, were evacuated around 9 a.m.
The students were later allowed back into the schools.
Police said a concerned parent contacted the school Tuesday because her son had made some bomb threats and mentioned taking a military-grade explosive to school.
Holly Hill police and Volusia County sheriff's K-9s evacuated the school and searched the school buildings.
The child's threat was later deemed not credible, and he is being evaluated, police said.
Parents tell Local 6 they are upset the school district didn't tell them about the threat.
"The school never called us," said parent Ashley Hull. "They were telling us not to park here and then to park here and then they made us move back and the come back out here."
The school district said it took them a little over an hour to get the message out to parents and said although it was a little too long of a time period, they wanted to get the most accurate information out to parents as it was changing.
An investigation is ongoing to whether the student will be charged. Most likely, police said, the punishment will be through the school.
