A man was arrested Monday on allegations of robbing the gift shop at Wuesthoff Hospital in Melbourne.

Police say Robert M. Wallace, 30, walked into the shop at 250 N. Wickham Road, held a knife to the clerk and demanded money. Wallace then fled the store with an undisclosed amount of money.

A Melbourne Police officer spotted a man riding a bicycle on Wickham Road that matched the description of the suspect. When the officer tried to stop the man, he fled on foot.

Wallace was soon located in the woods and and taken into custody after struggling with the arresting officers.

The gift shop clerk was not injured.

Wallace is being charged with armed robbery, resisting an officer with violence and resisting an officer without violence.
