Central Florida's Got Talent

Central Florida's Got Talent will showcase local talent while raising funds for families with special needs.

ORLANDO, Fla. -

Central Florida residents could get their big break come September while raising money for a good cause.

For the first time, Central Florida’s Got Talent — The Dream Big Benefit Award Show will be hosted at Rosen Shingle Creek. The event is aimed to entertain the community with Florida’s Rising Stars, and is welcoming auditions from local individuals.

The event will benefit Dream Big, Inc., a nonprofit whose mission is to enrich the lives of children and young adults with special needs. Specifically, the funds will go to a new respite care/therapeutic program for special needs families in Central Florida.

The application deadline for auditions is May 1, and auditions begin on May 17 at Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando. The event is slated for Sept. 13.

Participants will be judged in three categories — vocalists, dancers and entertainers — and will have the opportunity to perform in front of booking agents and local celebrities.

Judges will include Elizabeth Parsons, director of Parsons School of Dance; Barbara Beck, TV 45 host of “The Good Life”; Eric Lee, host of “Wake up with Erica” on WLOQ – 102.5 FM and Estee Martin, co-host of the top rated “Obie and Lil’ Shawn” Morning Show.

More judges will be announced closer to the event date.

The President of Dream Big, Inc., Antonia Llull, says, “Dream Big is relatively new in the community, with an active board that launched its first, family centered fundraising event in September, 2012. As we continue to reach for higher goals, we are confident that the upcoming year will be our largest and most impactful event, to date. We recognize that in order to launch Central Florida’s Got Talent and achieve a growing momentum towards awareness and recognition, we need our community’s help and support in the fight against the institutionalization of our young adults and the lowering of expectations for children with special needs”.

Ticket prices are $70 before July 1, then $80 until the event. Heavy hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar will be available for guests.
