Kissimmee woman, 57, killed in Polk County crash, troopers say

50-year-old man suffers serious injuries in crash, FHP says

POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A 57-year-old woman was killed and a 50-year-old man was injured Monday afternoon in a Polk County crash, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said Linda Borden, of Kissimmee, was driving west on South Boulevard toward U.S. Highway 27 at 12:15 p.m. as a 50-year-old man driving a Dodge Avenger was heading north on U.S. 27.

Borden didn't stop and drove into the intersection, crashing into the man's vehicle and causing both of them to end up north of South Boulevard, troopers said.

Borden was taken to Heart of Florida Hospital, where she later died from her injuries, the FHP said. The man driving the Avenger was being treated for serious injuries, troopers said.
