Epcot's Food & Wine Fest Is Back

Greetings to a culinary edition of Theme World.

But first -- a quick reminder -- this is the last weekend to see the Peabody ducks.

And speaking of duck... It's one of the few things NOT on the menu at one of the most-loved events with locals.

Epcot's 18th Annual International Food & Wine Festival kicked off today. So you foodies have 46 days to eat around World Showcase.



Disney tells me this year's sample-sized "tastes" and "sips," as they call them, will run you from $3 - $8 each.

And there are a few new additions Epcot is touting. The first is courtesy of the state legislature.
The Festival is among the first in Florida to serve wine on tap in 5-gallon stainless-steel kegs. Taste for yourself at  the Festival Center (former Wonders of Life) and Refreshment Cool Post (the weird Africanish area between China and Germany).
You'll find a Cabernet and Chardonnay on tap at the Festival Center, and  a Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir at Cool Post.

Disney says it is better for the environment.



Speaking of drinks -- Disney  is touting the above beverage. A new apple pie-inspired Frozen Szarlotka created with Zubrowka, a Polish Bison Grass Vodka, and apple cider at the Poland Marketplace.



Also new this year -- a Scotland Marketplace -- complete with  "vegetarian haggis with neeps and tatties"   That means: "griddled vegetable cake with rutabaga and mashed potatoes.
Scotland also features this sweet treat.



It is a  Scottish Banoffee Tart with Bananas, Scottish Whisky Toffee, Walkers Shortbread Crumbles and Sweet Cream.
In all -- there are more than 40 new dishes and 80 new beverages.
Already getting good reviews:



The Kimchi Dog with Spicy Mustard Sauce at the South Korea kiosk.


And the Griddled Lobster Tail with Garlic Herb Butter at the Hops & Barley Marketplace outside the American Adventure.
