Unexpected Thrill & Tall Tower
An update from the other side of the I-4 corridor today. You may recall yesterday on Local 6 & Clickorlando.com we told you how 16 Busch Gardens guests had to be rescued from the Cheetah Hunt roller coaster in the rain. The good news: everyone is safe.
Today -- Busch says it is keeping the coaster closed (at least as of this writing) in what they call an abundance of caution to test the coaster's systems so this, hopefully, doesn't happen again. Cheetah Hunt has been one of the more reliable coasters in Florida since it opened nearly 3 years ago. Hopefully it will be open soon.
Meanwhile the park's next big thrill ride should start test runs soon.
The record-breaking Falcon's Fury is all but done. If you don't remember -- the ride promises to lift you up almost twice as high as Sheikra. Then your seats will rotate so you face down as you plummet 335 feet straight down.
We now know the ride will randomize how long you have to wait for that fast fall by a few seconds. Good luck, thrill seekers! Falcon's Fury should be open sometime this Spring.
Behind the ride, you can see Busch is giving the former Timbuktu area an Antojitos-style color change.
As we've told you before, the area is being made over into a fanciful made-up land called Pantopia -- also due to open in the spring. It will be home to a new show called "Opening Night Critters." in the former Timbuktu theater which used to show 4-d movies (and way in the past a dolphin show). "Critters" promises an 80-animal cast.
The rest of Pantopia will feature colorful shops and several new restaurants. The classic Scorpion roller coaster remains, though the area's kiddie rides may get a bit of a makeover.
Here's a link to my previous update on Falcon's Fury.
