DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -

The Florida Highway Patrol has identified the 46-year-old Port Orange man who was involved in a crash in Volusia County and jumped or fell off an overpass onto Interstate 95 and died.

Troopers said Phillip  Maurice Stiles was involved in a two-vehicle crash on southbound I-95 around 7 a.m. Thursday.

According to troopers, Stiles was driving a four-door Honda on I-95 when he rear-ended a pickup truck.  The 61-year-old driver of the pickup was not injured.

Both vehicles pulled to the side of the interstate, and Stiles ran from the scene, the FHP said.

A trooper arrived and located Stiles on the Dunn Avenue overpass, and as the trooper approached him, Stiles ran toward the edge of the overpass, the FHP said.  The trooper tried to stop the driver from hurting himself and grabbed Stiles' jacket, but he continued and either jumped or fell onto the shoulder of the interstate, according to the FHP.

Stiles was pronounced dead at the scene. It's still not clear if Stiles jumped or fell off of the interstate and an investigation is ongoing.
