Man hiding in dirt path robs students at gunpoint, deputies say

Incident happened on West Orange Trail

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A man who had been hiding in a dirt path jumped out and robbed multiple students at gunpoint Friday morning, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

The students were walking on West Orange Trail near Ocoee Apopka Road at about 7:20 a.m. when a masked man came out from his hiding place and robbed them at gunpoint, deputies said.

It appears they were on their way to school at Ocoee High School, authorities said Friday night.

The man was between 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 6 feet, 1 inch tall with a thin build. He was wearing a hood over his head and possibly a surgical-type mask over his face, according to a news release.

Deputies said the man fled in a red, four-door vehicle with possible rear-end damage.

Authorities did not provide information about how many students were involved or what school they attend.
