Police are searching for a man who tried to lure a young girl into his car Friday afternoon.

SOUTH DAYTONA, Fla. -

Police are searching for a man who tried to lure a young girl into his car Friday afternoon.

Anyasia Aviles, 5, was playing outside of her South Daytona apartment with her friends around 4 p.m. when she said a car pulled into the parking lot, and the driver told her to come to the car.

She instead ran home to tell her mother.

"I was terrified," said India Aviles. "I had chills all over my body. I was terrified and I was angry. I dragged her out the door to see where they were at."

The car had sped out of the parking lot, traveling north on South Palmetto Avenue.

Anyasia Aviles said she ran home, remembering what her mother had taught her about "stranger danger."

South Daytona police said they are searching for the gray car driven by a white man in his 30s. Police said he is slim and has a ponytail.

If you have any information call South Daytona police at 386-322-3030.
