Melbourne man arrested for possession of child pornography
According to Brevard County Sheriff's Office, investigations by the Breavard County Sheriff's Office and the FBI have led to the arrest of David O'brien,71.
O'brien is being charged with 10 counts of Possession of Child Pornography and is being held at the Brevard County Jail on $250,000 bond.
The Sheriff’s Office's SORT unit received information that Obrien was involved in the distribution of child pornography.
After investigating the information, a search warrant was issued for Obrien’s residence, where agents recovered multiple computers from the residence.
"Our agents, in coordination with the FBI and PAFB, are to be commended for a very thorough and timely investigation, stated Sheriff Wayne Ivey. "Through their outstanding efforts, an individual who actively participated in the exploitation of our children has been removed from our communities. I applaud this partnership and the agencies involved who stand between our most defenseless citizens and those who wish to harm them. Today's arrest sends a strong message, that regardless of who you are, these agents will investigate you and put you in our jail if you take any action to harm a child!"
O’brien is currently employed as the Chief Scientist for Headquarters Air Force Technical Applications Center at Patrick Air Force Base. At the present time, investigators have uncovered no information that O’brien committed any crimes while on Air Force property.
