Melbourne man threatens to blow up courthouse over grandson's $30 ticket, deputies say

Melbourne man charged with false bomb report

BREVARD COUNTY,Fla. – A Melbourne man was arrested Thursday in Titusville after deputies said he threatened to blow up the clerk of court's office over his grandson's $30 citation.

 

Joseph S Mannino, 63, contacted the Brevard County Clerk of Courts Office and said he was upset about a $30 bill that his grandson received. 

 

During the conversation, Mannino said he would blow up the Viera Courthouse, according to the arrest report. 

 

The Brevard County Clerk of Courts employee who took the call said that when she answered the phone, she identified herself and began to talk to Mannino about the citation. 

 

The conversation escalated quickly, resulting in Mannino yelling at the clerk's office employee, authorities said.  

 

Mannino told the employee that he would blow up the clerk's office, according to the report. 

 

Deputies tracked Mannino through his phone number and went to his home.

 

Mannino told deputies that he has an aggressive temperament and often yells at individuals on the phone. 

 

Deputies arrested Mannino, who is charged with making a false bomb report. He was ordered held on $15,000 bond.
