Meth lab evacuates beachside motel
COCOA BEACH, Fla. -

Chemicals used for manufacturing methamphetamine were discovered inside a beachside motel room early Tuesday, prompting a partial evacuation.

The discovery happened around 1:30 a.m. at the Motel 6, which is located at 3701 N. Atlantic Avenue.

According to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office, a Cocoa Beach police officer responded to a call to the motel when he spotted the chemicals inside a first floor room.

Part of the motel was evacuated for more than two hours as hazardous materials specialists removed chemicals and equipment from the room.

Deputies said a man was placed under arrest in connection with the meth lab discovery.  The man's name has not been released.
