Edgewater police found a child that was reported missing in the Halifax River Saturday evening.

EDGEWATER, Fla. -

Edgewater police said they located a child in the Halifax River that had been reported missing approximately 15 minutes prior.

Police said they were called to the home at 1001 South Riverside Drive in Edgewater around 6:15 p.m. Saturday for a report of a missing 2-year-old boy, Jake Morrison.

When a search of the home turned up empty, police said the parents told them the child may have wandered toward the water.

Police said Morrison's uncle, James Moyle, found the child while operating a watercraft about 20 minutes after the search began.

Paramedics started CPR on the child, who was found unresponsive, and then transported to Bert Fish Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased at 7:09 p.m.

The child was visiting Edgewater with his parents, Timothy and Kerri Morrison, from Palm Beach Gardens
