A man who was reported missing Tuesday morning was found safe and sound Tuesday night.
Bret Rathel was reported missing Tuesday morning by his wife after she found a troubling note left by him and was unable to contact him by phone, police said. The note has raised concerns for his safety, as he stated that he was "going off the grid."
According to authorities, Bret Rathel had last been seen Monday at Spring Garden Apartments in DeLand, where he works. He left abruptly in the afternoon to run errands and did not return, which his boss said was unusual behavior.
Rathel's friend convinced him to meet with a deputy in DeLand. Rathel was then taken into custody under the Baker Act.
